Extended Day Programme - A longer school day
ARK Atwood Primary Academy day runs from 8.30am to 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. The extended day allows additional time for English and mathematics as well as daily music and PE. It also provides time for a richer curriculum, stimulating new interests and enhancing children’s cultural learning experiences.
We want our pupils to enjoy a rich and varied school life and that includes a wide choice of stimulating extra-curricular activities. There will be clubs and societies, school plays and performances, sports clubs, opportunities to learn additional languages and opportunities to start or join clubs like chess or other games as demand rises. In addition to the regular external visits there will be joint activities and competitions with other schools in the area and across London.
We run a variety of clubs and activities, including French, drama, tag rugby, football and recorder club.

We aim to support and enhance children’s development by providing a fun and safe play environment for children that will support each child to learn and develop socially, physically, intellectually, creatively and emotionally. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, direct debit, child care vouchers and on-line visa payments. We are open from:-4:00pm to 6:00pm (term-time) and 8:00am to 6:00pm (holidays) a snack is provided. For further information please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the Play Manager Anya during play centre hours (4:00pm and 6:00pm).
At ARK Atwood Primary Academy we value the importance of meal times. We are committed to provide a healthy and nutritious meal for every child alongside the experience of eating meals in a small group alongside adults.
Pupils will learn table manners, how to hold cutlery properly, how to lay a table and have opportunity to experience discussion and dialogue over dinner with support from staff. We place great importance on all our pupils learning these important social skills and therefore this is a part of the school day which is planned for and shared with teachers and other adults.
Once a week pupils who have displayed excellent table manners will be invited to sit at the Headteacher’s table as a reward for their effort and positive contributions during meal times.
Each term we invite parents and carers to join us and share this experience with us. This gives you the opportunity to taste our fantastic food whilst sharing the experience of Atwood family dining first hand.
