Our approach to PE at Atwood seeks to encourage physical activity and the development of skills along with fostering a love of sport and exercise. Teamwork, competing fairly and enjoyment are all prioritised.

The curriculum focuses on one area of learning each half term (the order aligns with local competition schedules) to ensure that children are developing skills across a range of disciplines. The development of transferable physical capabilities such as balance, coordination, agility, speed and strength are central to learning in all year groups.

In addition to PE sessions, we also source external expertise to ensure our sport offer goes broader than the base PE curriculum. Additional sports include swimming, dance and karate. We also participate in local leagues and Ark network tournaments. To ensure that the size of our site does not limit our offer, we also make use of a local pitch and facilities at Westminster Academy.
