E-Safety

The internet has been at the forefront of huge changes in our daily lives and we are all accessing it more than ever before. The school curriculum makes use of the internet to an increasing extent as we look to ensure we are providing a relevant and inclusive curriculum along with making good use of the best educational resources available.

As a school, we recognise our responsibility to develop children’s computing skills in line with the expectations of the national curriculum so that they are increasingly confident in using different software. This responsibility also extends to learning about e-safety so that children can use the internet in the knowledge that they are safe and able to make good choices. The schools runs taught sessions and assemblies including, most recently, workshops from ‘Be Internet Legends’ https://parentzone.org.uk/legendshome, a joint partnership between Google and Parent Zone.

During the COVID pandemic, increased use is being made of the internet to ensure learning continues in the event of school disruption. For parents, it is therefore essential that you can support your child in staying safe and make sure that you are also aware of the potential risks. The websites below provide advice and support for parents and we strongly encourage you to access these.
