If your child is at Ark Atwood, then you are part of Friends of Ark Atwood – which was set up to achieve the following aims: 

  • To promote a cohesive school community that all children and their families can play a part in
  • To fundraise for the school to help it achieve its aims for every child. With these two aims in mind, FofAA organises social events as well as fundraising events.

Friends of Ark Atwood

Friends of Ark Atwood (FofAA) is the parent-teacher association for Ark Atwood Primary Academy. If your child is at Ark Atwood, you are already part of it.

We are the sunlight and the water that help our children's roots grow strong. From the very first bake sale to the last summer fair, we help the school do a little more, and every family finds their own way to take part. Every parent and carer is welcome, whatever they can give. Kindness and teamwork shape the way we work, alongside teachers and staff and for our children.

What we do

  • Raise money for our children, given by our community.
  • Help the school do what it has set out to do each year.
  • Bring our community together, through events, films, and time spent side by side.

Our principles

  • We raise money from our community, to spend on our community. 
  • We only ever spend what we raised. Every parent can see where it went.
  • We spend it fairly, with every child in mind, not the loudest voice or the easiest ask.
  • We raise each other up. Just as the school asks its children to show teamwork and respect, we show up for one another, carer to carer, family to family.
  • We work hand in hand with our teachers. Parents and staff see school life differently, and both views matter. We listen, we respect what each side carries, and we act as one team, for the sake of the children.
  • Not every idea works, and not every event goes to plan. We learn, we adjust, and we keep going, because that is what we ask of our children too.

The Team

Co-Chairs: Jana Randall and Frances Gaillard lead Friends of Ark Atwood. They run parent and carer meetings, work with the school's leadership team and office, report on activities and funds raised, welcome new families, and lead the Winter Fair and Summer Fair. 

Class reps are the point of contact for your class. Go to them for small, everyday things, a question about a class trip, or simply not knowing who else to ask.

FofAA meetings are usually held on Tuesday mornings, 8:45 to 9:45am in the School Hall. If you can't make them, you can still take part, volunteer, or send us your ideas.
