Many of our Year 6 children have spent this week on the Isle of Wight for the annual residential.
Unlike last year, the weather has been absolutely fantastic with sunny blue sky days for the duration of the trip. The Year 6 Residential is learning focused as the children enjoy a variety of activities that we would struggle to offer in our small urban setting including abseiling, sea swimming, zipwiring, aeroball and fencing. It is also a brilliant opportunity for the children to develop their independence as they move towards secondary school. For many, it is not only the first time they may have been away from home for a significant amount of time but also the first time they have been required to completely organise themselves – getting to meals on time, managing all their clothes and keeping everything tidy and organised. Great preparation for secondary school in September.
