Overview
At Ark Atwood we are keen to provide our pupils with a range of meaningful experiences, visits and visitors. One way we do this is through our Careers curriculum. The aim is to inform pupils about the world of work and routes into professional careers so that every pupil is well prepared to make informed choices in the future. We foster pupils’ aspirations and develop the skills, values and positive sense of self needed for success throughout their time at school and beyond.
Aims
Our school’s careers programme aims to:
- Raise aspirations and encourage pupils to aim high and to have ambitious goals for the future.
- Promote the development of essential skills.
- Increase awareness of the range of jobs and future careers/pathways available
- Decrease the extent to which stereotypes limit children’s thinking about their future careers.
- Provide children with a forward looking, realistic view of jobs and the way that we work.
- Develop understanding of the link between what is learnt in school and the world of work.
